Study Areas
AfriWatSan established a Network of Urban Groundwater Observatories comprising a town (Lukaya, Uganda), a city (Kisumu, Kenya), and a mega-city (Dakar, Sénégal). Each conurbation is underlain by a shallow aquifer comprising unconsolidated alluvium providing a low-cost source of safe water and relies substantially on the use of on-site sanitation.
