The DR 6000 UV VIS spectrophotometer is a common piece of equipment to all the institutions participating in the AfriWatSan project.
In line with its capacity strengthening mandate, the Project found it relevant to train its member technicians, at the same time and in the same location, on the use of this equipment the project has endowed its participating institutions with.
Work done involved familiarization on the instrument hardware and software and training the technicians on the specific analyses they wanted to carry out on the UV/VIS.The aim was to enable them to carry the specific analyses requested by the project and influence research outcome.
The training workshop was then held at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, from 26th February to 28th February 2019. It was attended technicians involved in the project and emanating from the University of Nairobi, the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar and Makerere University.
The training revealed very successful as per the feedback received from the technicians and the workshop report.
